Q1:) What is a domain name?

A:) It is your internet address on the world wide web.
For example, www.eVIB.co.uk is a domain name
It also allows for email addresses such as you @ company-name .co.uk.

Q2:) What does it mean to register a domain name?

When you register a domain name it is assigned/licensed to you and associated with a (DNS) computer on the internet.

Q3:) How long can a domain name be?

A:)

The new long format allows for a minimum of 2 characters up to 63 characters plus the extension.
Valid characters are (a-z) and (0-9) and the dash (-) as long as it is contained with in the other characters. It can not be a leading or trailing character.

Once your application has been processed and approved your domain name is registered.

You will have to pay another 1/2 years registration fee at the current prices.

.co.uk, .org.uk, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us and .tv

The following domain names are available for registration by:
.ltd.uk - Limited Companies Only. (Company Registration Number must be supplied upon registration.)
.plc.uk - Public Companies in the UK.
.me.uk - Personal Domain Names Only.
.name - Personal Names Only.
